Busy Times

So far, this Summer I have have been really busy. I think it is one of the busiest times of the year, obviously. And just yesterday I had a pool party and a sleepover. Some people have asked me over and I could't come because of my schedule. The friends on my block though, I have easy access to. That is different from the rest of the cases where we have to drive. Anyway, I think being busy is fun it keeps you active during the Summer and you won't get bored as often, especially with some of your good friends.

Cold Water Challenge

Those of you that cruise Instagram should know what the Cold Water Challenge is. My friends from my block, Mia and Emma, got nominated to do it. Anyway, yesterday Emma did it and once the water was poured on her she literally was sprinting pack and forth on her tippy-toes. Emma was soaked and turning pale. Today Mia did it. I was going to knock on her door, but no one answered, so I went to their back porch. When I got their I was just in time to see Mia dumping the water on her head and seconds later jumping into their hot tub. For the Cold Water Challenge, nominate your best friend, because then it will be even funnier!

Neighbors

I moved into the house I am living in right now about two and a half years ago. I didn't know many people that lived on my street besides my friend Mia. I wanted to meet a family of four girls that lives one house away! Or two girls that live like four or five houses away. For all of those years I hadn't met them. But then when I was playing with Mia yesterday, we took the crazy idea of inviting them to play four-square with us. We thought we should go to the house with two girls first. Anyway, Mia knew their names: Charlotte and Isabelle. So, we walked up their front walk way and rang the doorbell, we tried to act calm  when their mom opened the door and said,
"Hi, I don't know if you remember me from before but, my name is Mia."
"And I am Ania I live a few houses away."
"We were wondering if you could come over to my house and play four-square with us."
"We felt sort of awkward living here all along and not getting to know you."
Their mom looked surprised but then her face turned into a grin and she said, "Oh, great! The girls are coming. They just said that they were bored so you came at a perfect time!" Into our view popped a girl our age light brown hair, and an older, paler girl with darker hair. The younger one was Isabelle the older now was Charlotte. And off we went. We played a typical four-square game and asked some questions to get to know each other. When they had to go home, we met Amelia and Abby (two of the four) and played four square. Now I know that taking chances can lead to fun outcomes!

A Fish as a Friend

My pet fish Spectrum, is a little bit over a year old. He is a beautiful male beta fish. My sister chose him. His color is a deep blue, like the color of the ocean and his tail ripples and shimmers just like the waves. His body is sort of small and his tail is really big, compared to the rest of him. His tail is elegantly curved and sort of frames his body. My sister was going to name him Rainbow because of how his tail and fins reflect the light, I thought that it was too girly so I changed it to Spectrum. Spectrum's tank mate is an adorable aquatic zebra snail. The snail's name is Big-Z because he is fat and has zig-zaggy stripes. Together they make our kitchen sink counter… perfect.

Mockingjay Literary Essay (Final Piece)

"My name is Katniss Everdeen. Why am I not dead? I should be dead," Katniss might not realize this but others need her even though she doesn't want herself. In the Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins, Katniss becomes less selfless and wants to save more people as more of her loved ones die.

At the beginning of the book when Katniss is still living in District 13, she agrees to be the rebel's Mockingjay. President Coin knew that eventually Katniss would agree but she didn't come so easily. At that time Katniss wanted good for all of Panem, she wants to give certain Victors immunity from the rebellion, otherwise she won't be the Mockingjay. Normally this would not be anything like Katniss, she was very selfish. But, the Hunger Games influenced her, she saw that the Districts deserve a chance of life, it isn't their fault that the capitol is so cruel. And giving them immunity means that Katniss pities the Victors and thinks that saving some precious lives can make a difference. So, as Katniss speaks with President Coin she now found out that she is changing.

Katniss feels such pain inside that she says on page 378, "I vote yes… for Prim.", and I inferred that Katniss, in her head was probably saying, I vote yes for Prim and everyone I have caused to die, and because of the Capitol, because of everything that has happened to her. When the rebellion is coming to a close and the remaining Victors are deciding on wether to make a Hunger Games for Capitol children Katniss sort of is getting revenge on President Snow. Before her sister and so many of her loved ones died she would also say no, but she is remembering that the rebellion has to end and she has all of the districts to worry about. I think that her choice matters most, because she has all of the districts to think of, and the citizens don't get their votes cast. But why did she vote yes? I guess she is trying to release the burden of the rebellion.

In her head Katniss always says, My name is Katniss Everdeen. Why am I not dead? I should be dead. It would be best for everyone if I were dead… I think that she is putting all of the deaths that she caused on her, so that no one else can feel the pain. Never in her life has she felt such depression, Katniss realized that she has feelings for all of the Districts and of course her loved ones. She has such emotion for them that she is willing to sacrifice herself for the common good. As the novel suggests, Katniss is dealing with changes and she is growing sympathetic and selfless. The causes to her change were living through a rebellion and every one of her actions causes more deaths. How would you feel if you were in her position? If I were in her position I would also grow more sympathetic, watching my people die. She has to watch each of her actions, that is why if she were dead then less people would die.

In the the Mockingjay, Katniss grows love in her heart for people that she touches around her and wants to save more lives as a change for her bad actions. Overall she has been using herself for the common good, and has saved many citizens of Panem. Katniss appreciates the gift of life, liberty and happiness more than she did before the rebellion and Hunger Games.

Facts about our Sun!

1. Core
The center of the Sun only takes up 2% of its space. But, it holds 60% of the mass. Here, because of heat and pressure hydrogen atoms are slammed together to fuse into helium atoms. The fusion of helium releases almost all of the energy that keeps the Sun shining.

2. Radioactive Zone
The energy from the core rises here to form photons. The photons get absorbed by other atoms  which then causes more energy to be released.

3. Convective Zone
In this layer, the energy heats currents of gas which rise to the surface of the Sun. As the gas rises it cools, so then it goes back down.

4. Photosphere
This 200 mile thick layer is the surface of the Sun. The light that we see from Earth comes from this layer.

5. Chromosphere
From here huge jets of gas rise miles and slowly fall back.

6. Corona
The top layer of the Sun, has hot gasses that stretch millions of miles onto space.

Summer Time

About one more week of school left! I am so excited! But, also disappointed because I won't be getting any work I won't get to see my friends. I can't wait until the bell rings on the last day of school. Everybody will rush out practically trampling one another and ripping their school work. I am not going to rip it, but I might crack just one pencil for the fun of it. I also am expecting to have the first day of Summer spent lying in the Sun, drinking lemonade, and playing with my friends. I will also get a chance to sleep in. School is almost out!

Mockingjay Literary Essay

Intro:
"My name is Katniss Everdeen. Why am I not dead? I should be dead." Katniss might not realize this but others need her even though she doesn't want herself. In the Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins, Katniss becomes less selfless and wants to save more people as more of her loved ones die.

Reason 1: Paraphrase

Reason 2: Direct Quote

Reason 3: Quote
In her head Katniss always says, My name is Katniss Everdeen. Why am I not dead? I should be dead. It would be best for everyone if I were dead… I think that she is putting all of the deaths that she caused on her, so that no one else can feel the pain. Never in her life has she felt such depression, Katniss realized that she has feelings for all of the Districts and of course her loved ones. She has such emotion for them that she is willing to sacrifice herself for the common good. As the novel suggests, Katniss is dealing with changes and she is growing sympathetic and selfless.

Conclusion:
In the the Mockingjay, Katniss grows love in her heart for people that she touches around her and wants to save more lives as a change for her bad actions. Overall she has been using herself for the common good, and has saved many citizens of Panem. Katniss appreciates the gift of life, liberty and happiness more than she did before the rebellion and Hunger Games.

Nobody like Sandstorm

Short Story

Nobody like Sandstorm
(I am writing my own short version of 'Out of the Wild' and parts of the next books, of the Warriors series)

"Firepaw, this is Spottedleaf", Whitestorm meowed. He had told Firepaw that Spottedleaf was ThunderClan's medicine cat. Firepaw stared into her beautiful amber-green eyes. Her tortoiseshell patterned fur illuminated her kind character in the crisp evening. "Well," Whitestorm began interrupting the silence and noticing the glances Firepaw and Spottedleaf were exchanging, "medicine cats are not allowed to have a family - no kits. Firepaw stopped looking at the heart-warming she-cat and went to find Graypaw - the apprentice who introduced him to the clan. Before his arrival in ThunderClan, Firepaw lived with his house folk (owners) and lived a straight forward life as a kittypet (kittypet = house cat), now it is the opposite.
Sandpaw and Dustpaw glared at Firepaw when he padded into the apprentice's den (apprentices = cats training to become warriors). "I suppose you expected your two legged house folk to come and feed you," Sandpaw sneered, then she looked at Dustpaw with round eyes. "Uh, and you are not clan born." "Leave him alone Sandpaw, you're just jealous that Buestar the clan leader invited him to stay!", Graypaw meowed. Firepaw gave him a grateful look. But, before washing his paws, Firepaw peeked over to Sandpaw, when there gazes met Firepaw just continued washing his paws.

"Firepaw, Graypaw, Lionheart, and Darkstripe, you are going on a hunting patrol," the cold-hearted deputy - Tigerclaw, ordered (deputy = next to become leader). Firepaw and his patrol bounded of into the forest. "Let's try hunting by snake rocks, prey has bound to be hiding in the cracks," Lionheart told them. "Sounds good, but, I would have chosen the owl tree, anyway let's go!" Darkstripe countered.
When the patrol returned with three mice a shriek of horror awaited them. "What has happened," Lionheart demanded. Willowpelt, the cat who had wailed, whispered something to Lionheart. "Oh no, we must alert Bluestar and the Clan," Lionheart ordered. "What has happened?", Firepaw asked. "You will find out soon enough," Darkstripe said with a smirk on his face. Bluestar jumped onto her high rock and called in the clan.
"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath high rock for an emergency clan meeting," Bluestar called, and her voice wrung around the hollow. Cats emerged from their dens. Firepaw and Graypaw sat in the front and Firepaw noticed that Willowpelt had emerged from behind Highrock carrying a somber gaze. Lionheart, Darkstripe and other Warriors joined in. Longtail with his apprentice Swiftpaw entered through the thorn tunnel entrance and sat beside Lionheart. Dustpaw and Sandpaw stumbled out of the apprentices den and dragged the queens out of their den (queens are she-cats expecting or nursing kits). Goldenflower who was one of the lead queens  helped the elders into the clearing with the rest of the cats milling about to find a spot. "Eh-hum," Bluestar began, "You all know that we have been having difficulties with ShadowClan lately (ShadowClan is another group of cats)," "Spottedleaf is dead," Screams of dismay, hollers of worry, and gasps of grief rose from the crowd below. Meanwhile, Firepaw just stared at his paws. He thought to himself 'Why her? Why Spottedleaf? The most friendly and beautiful cat I knew. I didn't even get to know her!' Feline tears began streaming down his face and all of the noise around him seemed to die down, he was… alone. Firepaw began to tune in when ShadowClan was brought to the conversation. "What if ShadowClan killed her!", the eldest elder - One-eye, called out. "Stop!", Bluestar interrupted the argument, "Someone investigate Spottedleaf's… body." Whitestorm and Firepaw bounded up to her and Firepaw took one last look into her beautiful amber-green eyes and he saw, longing and love in them. Whitestorm sniffed and her, there were some bite marks in the neck. "Everyone, ShodowClan's scent is on her," he paused "To be exact I think it was Blackfoot," Whitestorm told them. With that there was no more talk, Halftail, Smallear, Dappletail, One-Eye and Patchpelt - the elders - carried her limp body to the clearing for her mourning vigil. Almost all of the clan came and settled into a circle by her. Bluestar was the first, she leaped down and lay down by her head. Then Firepaw, he nestled up by her eyes and watched his lost love's eyes slowly lose their light.  The other apprentices came at the edge of the crowd to let the older Warriors gets chance. Darkstripe, Tigerclaw and Longtail lingered on the outside and soon suspiciously returned to their dens.

4 Moons (months) Later
"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath high rock for a clan meeting," Bluestar called, and all cats assembled as they did with the previous meeting. Firepaw noticed Lionheart looking at them, he nodded approvingly. Firepaw, Graypaw, Sandpaw, and Dustpaw were all about to become Warriors - it was their Warrior ceremony! That is when with all of the training as an apprentice they finally become a Warrior that means that they are recognized a full member of the clan, can go around their territory by themselves, and have more 'options' and respect. Bluestar shot a proud glance at Firepaw, he was her apprentice and before he was a kittypet that would soon earn his respect. Darkstripe looked at him, too, and gave a contemptuous snort. "As you all know these four apprentices are ready to become clan Warriors," Bluestar purred. Murmurs of approval shot up and then as quickly as they came died down. Though some cats stayed quiet eyeing Firepaw. Firepaw looked at his paws, ready to burst with pride, he wondered if he would gain more respect from his adopted clan. 'Oh Spottedleaf protect me from harm and critical glares' Firepaw prayed to Starclan, the heaven where Spottedleaf lay.
Bluestar leaped down from Highrock and padded over to Dustpaw. "StarClan look down on these four young cats becoming Warriors, please approve of my choice." Bluestar announced.
"Dustpaw do you take the challenge of becoming a Warrior."
"I do."
"Will you defend your clan even at the cost of your life"
"Yes."
"Then from here and on Dustpaw, you shall be known as Dustpelt." Dustpelt was trembling with joy when Bluestar rested her chin on his head he licked her shoulder in return. Next it was Sandpaw. Bluestar looked at the growing ginger she-cat with a kind gaze… "Then from here and on Sandpaw, you shall be known as Sandstorm." …"Then from here and on Graypaw, you shall be known as Graystripe." Lastly it was Firepaw. "Is Firepaw allowed to become a Warrior," croaked an elder from the back of the crowd. Some of the cats appeared as if they were about to counter Bluestar. "Of course he is!" Bluestar told them. Lionheart, Whitestorm, Willowpelt and Frostfur (Bluestar's former apprentice) stood up to defend her. "She will carry on as usual," Willowpelt argued calmly. Bluestar began again,"Firepaw do you take the full challenge of becoming a Warrior and passing on your knowledge for generations to come." Firepaw was puzzled by what she meant by his knowledge, but he was shaking with excitement. "I do," he said with a squeak.
"Will you defend your clan even at the cost of your life"
"Yes."
"Then from here and on Firepaw, you shall be known as Fireheart, may StarClan light all of your paths and support all of our new Warriors." All of ThunderClan boomed out "Sandstorm, Sandstorm! Dustpelt, Dustpelt! Graystripe, Graystripe! Fireheart, Fireheart!" It sounded like thunder itself to Fireheart and they said his namely with an equal amount of enthusiasm. He beamed with pride. Fireheart noticed Sandstorm taking her place for their Warrior's night vigil. He thought to himself 'Well, I guess Sandstorm is sort of nice' he took his position next to her and maybe even scooted a bit closer. He looked over to the horizon - at the slowly setting sun "All good things end at some point," he whispered and began his vigil listening to the night.

"Time for the dawn patrol!," Tigerclaw hollered. Fireheart ignored him, he had to speak with Bluestar. Ravenpaw the runaway apprentice had the proof, Ravenpaw had seen Tigerclaw kill Redtail (the previous deputy) just to become deputy himself… then leader. Ravenpaw saw the whole thing and he told Firepaw and Graypaw before he left. Fireheart meanwhile had witnessed Tigerclaw whispering to Shadowclan cats at four clan gatherings, and in his dreams instead of walking in Starclan Tigerclaw walked with the Dark Forest and spoke with his allies potentially plotting to kill Bluestar. Fireheart padded to Bluestar's den when he ran into Sandstorm and Dustpelt, "Where are you of to?", Fireheart asked them, "The dawn patrol," Sandtorm answered with a smile but but her voice sounded bored. "What about you?", Dustpelt asked, "To Bluestar," Fireheart said no more and left them wondering.
Bluestar's den was dark. It was located under the high rock shielded by a lichen curtain. "Speak." "Umm, well… Tigerstar is evil - he is plotting to kill you!", Fireheart might have said that a bit too fast and frightfully. Bluestar just stared at him, "Listen, Tigerclaw might be odd but inside he is loyal to the Warrior code and ThunderClan." Bluestar looked into the young Warrior's eyes sympathetically then she walked out of the den. "No, but wait!" She didn't stop and only her doom lay in her future - precisely 5 seconds away. "Ahhhhh!", Bluestar yowled so unprepared for the attack that Tigerclaw had planned. Bluestar was just about to find out how evil Tigerclaw was. When Fireheart burst through the lichen curtain he saw Tigerclaw grappling on Bluestar, he was two times the size of her, Bluestar didn't have a chance. Tigerclaw hissed into her face, "I am going to kill you!" She was puzzled, "Why? You betrayed your clan you traitor!" Darkstripe was standing behind them, snickering. No one else was in the camp to save her, but Fireheart. Bluestar's blood dripped down till it reached the sand, Tigerclaw meowed, "Now do you feel the pain I felt, waiting to be  leader," he just noticed Fireheart, "Darkstripe take care of this kittypet fool!" Darkstripe answered, "I would love to Tigerclaw." He didn't move nor did Fireheart while the deputy and leader continued to struggle. Fireheart wouldn't let Tigerclaw win this battle. He was choking on his own words,
"Tigerclaw, you power-hungry, greedy fool."
"What did you call me! I am your new leader."
"You are a traitor you broke the Warrior code!"
"Did I? I did."
"What about you Darkstripe, why do you follow him?"
Darkstripe didn't hesitate to answer, "He isn't afraid to counter the pitiful Warrior code. And wouldn't it be easier of one cat ruled all four clans! He also can fight!" With that Darkstripe lunged at Fireheart claws out and fangs bared. Thanks to his apprentice training, Fireheart side stepped and barreled into Tigerclaw, knocking him off of the scarred Bluestar. Fireheart was ontop of Tigerclaw now, clawing at is neck and kicking his exposed belly. This time Tigerclaw started to look dazed because of Fireheart brave fighting. Suddenly, Sandstorm and Dustpelt broke into the camp followed by six other Warriors. They wrangled down Tigerclaw and let Bluestar speak. "Fireheart! Are you alright!" Sandstorm meowed in a worried tone. "I am fine, just a little scratched." "Actually you are beaten bloody go to the medicine cat Yellowfang this instant. Fireheart thought, 'Why is she worrying so much about me? Maybe she likes me? I have to see to Bluestar first!'. Bluestar was speaking seriously now, "Tiderclaw, due to the cruel actions you have made I am now pronouncing you to be in exile along with your follower Darkstripe." Both of them walked out of the camp giving hostile glares and being escorted by Runningwind, Swiftpaw, Williwpelt, Whitestorm and Lionheart. Tigerclaw hollered back, "I will come back for you! Be ready to fight!"

2 Moons Later
"Isn't it exciting," Brindleface (one of the queens) meowed,"Frostfur is having her kits!" Indeed the whole clan was filled with happiness and the joy of having new members of the clan! Yellowfang (the medicine cat) rushed to the nursery carrying a bundle of herbs, wet moss and a stick for for Frostfur to use. While inside the nursery gasps of pain were coming from Frostfur half of the clan was gathered in the clearing, waiting. Sandstorm was sitting next to Fireheart, she said, "I want to have kits someday." Fireheart wondered who the lucky tom-cat would be. Moments later Yellowfang emerged with a smile on her face, "Frostfur had two healthy kits, one is a gray she-cat, the other a brown tabby tom." The whole clan seemed to sigh when Yellowfang mentioned the word healthy, they needed to stay strong. "What are their names?" asked the apprentice Swiftpaw. From inside the nursery Frostfur called, "The she-cat's name is Cinderkit, the tom's name is Brackenkit." Behind Fireheart, Bluestar said, "These kits will need mentoring when they become apprentices, Fireheart and Graystripe."

Sky High

This is a story about a lonely 7 year old girl who could run really fast and dreamed to fly.

"Hey you shorty!" called out a thick and quite dumb boy. "Stop calling me shorty my name is Rye." whispered a short girl with golden blonde hair, deep blue eyes and a naturally beautiful physique. The thick boy named Toby mimicked her, "Stop it Toby, Stop it Toby. My life is miserable, so leave my first grade butt alone!" With that Toby lunged at Rye. She was expecting it. Rye sprinted to the side like a bullet and ran at least a mile from him until she stopped. "I wish I could fly, then all of my problems would be solved!" she mumbled to herself. Of course her whole family kept encouraging her to be brave But, she didn't feel brave. What Rye needed was to fly away from her melancholy and soar as proud as an eagle - just to be brave.

Birmingham Fair Pictures

…………...Since I went to the Birmingham Fair yesterday, I decided to post the pictures my 2 of the pictures of one of the rides today. The last ride that we went on was 101 Nachts. We wanted to go on the Freak-Out last but for some maintenance reason we weren't able to go on it. I am so disappointed about that. Anyway, on 101 Nachts we turned out having a lot of fun. I especially liked the sudden drop, when we are still and then we just fall down.
My sister is in the tie-die, I am next to her, then Shin Be, and lastly on the left my friend Ellie

That is what the ride looked like from further away.

"Chains" Journal Response 6/2/14

I am doing it on:
Reactions - #1, I wish….
Make sure you expand a bit on those sentences so that I can really understand what you are thinking.

I wish that Madam Lockton would be more fair to Sal (Isabel). Sal was just trying to free herself which of course was against the law, but Madam didn't have to lie for her own good. During court Madam was being the exact opposite of herself I wish that slaves got a chance to express themselves more. It's sort of stupid that Sal wasn't allowed to speak up for the common good. Madam needs to be more fair otherwise there wouldn't be as many problems with Sal. During court lying to the judge is a crime itself. So, why did Madam do that just to get Sal in even deeper trouble? Sal didn't do her any physical harm. If Madam were fair then Ruth would still be with Sal (Isabel) and every one in the Lockton household would get along, there would be at least some liberty in their life. I wish Madam would tell the truth, then life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness would be followed.
