What do yo think about year round schooling?

Debate of:

Year-Round School

I think year-round schooling is better because it helps prepare kids for college.  Over the summer sometimes I forget the things I've learned in the school year before. A lot of the beginning of the year is spent on review when we could be working on new concepts to help our academic achievement. "The widespread breaks keep kids comfortable while their brains don't get 'drained'," says principle of a Detroit public school, "it helps prepare kids for college and the 'real world" (Channel 7 News).  Students can excel in schooling because of the time spent on work and breaks where kids study while relaxing.
Many students are struggling with academics, in traditional schooling calendars. But with a year-round schedule, it's different, to help prepare kids for their future. "We have many students who struggle to achieve academic success in school," says Superintendent David Markward. "We need to take advantage of every opportunity that we think is logical for them to be successful. "A modified calendar," he says, "has provided educators [with] a time to step back—a time for teachers to make mid-course corrections before learning problems become achievement gaps."(New York Times)
Critics say that year-round schooling isn't well brought up because children don't get to spend their summer time relaxing, studying and having their own time. But will that help support kids' learning journey; not at all! And for for a fact, do you really think a 7-15 year olds will spend their time learning? In my own experience (not including me!!!) people have been just goofing of the whole summer. Though on the other hand year-round schooling will help kids with the constant education flow, but with minor intersessions (breaks) in between it can improve college test scores. Percent increase in year-round school implementations from 1987 to 2003 are 544%, think how much that will support future college students (California Department of Education)Year-round schooling is better because of college preparations.
