Algebraic Expression
An expression that includes one or more variables. Examples: 7b, 10(a+b), 4x(12)

Coefficient
The number part of a term when the term is a number times a variable or product of a variables. Examples: 56n, 2(x*x)

Exponent
In a power, the small raised number that indicates how many times the base is used as a factor.

Equation
A statement that includes two expressions that are equal. They are separated by an equals sign (=). Examples: 2+3m=17, 123-12=w

Basic Ratio
A ratio in its simplest form, using whole numbers. Examples: 2:3, 4:5

Inverse Operation
Operations that undo each other. Multiplication and division are inverse operations.
