Tomorrow my class and partner class are going to the Rouge River! We our going to do tests in the water. There will be a chemical station where we take samples of the water and measure the levels of PH, dissolved oxygen, phosphorus and nitrates which will tell us about the pollution. At a benthic station we will be fishing out micro-invertebrates and other aquatic animals and identifying them. That will tell us about how clean the water is, as in we want to see animals that don't tolerate pollution. At the physical station we will be measuring water speed and the river's length from bank to bank and depth, and water level. This will tell us how much the river is eroding. Speaking of eroding, the water level must be really high right now, because it was raining all day today! That would mean danger if we go there. I hope it is safe so we get to go. I really want to get my toes wet!
